A render farm is a cluster of networked computers dedicated to performing the computationally intensive image-synthesis work of rendering, distributing frames or tiles of a scene across many machines to reduce total completion time. It is a standard component of film production and other content creation pipelines that require photorealistic output at scale. Render farms may run on dedicated on-premises hardware or on elastically provisioned cloud compute.
